Hello.
My name is Ryuta Kankake, and I am the manager of this old Japanese house and run a farm called Natural Farm Nihonbare.
We both grew up in big cities, me in Osaka and my wife in Tokyo.
However, in 2015, we were fascinated with the Satoyama area of Minami Izu and moved there.
As a new farmer, I rented an old house and abandoned farmland in the village of Ichinose and started farming through trial and error.
Thanks to you, we are now able to grow a variety of vegetables through natural cultivation without using pesticides or fertilizers.
The number of customers who purchase our vegetables by regular delivery has also increased.
In addition, some of the vegetables and fruits are made into processed products such as bottles with the cooperation of local people and sold at local roadside stations.
During these days, our families have grown, we have started taking care of a stray cats, and the number of friends and supporters has also increased.
we had get used to live in Minami-Izu little by little and started to like this place more and more.
On the other hand, this village is also faced with the reality that depopulation is progressing, the number of people is decreasing year by year, and the number of vacant houses is increasing one by one.
Due to this trend, we also took over an 80-year-old traditional Japanese house that was located right next to our home and farm.
How we felt when we first came to Minami Izu, and ours journey so far in enjoying the bounty of nature and living an agricultural life.
Based on this, we want more people to experience living in harmony with nature, which is unique to Minami-Izu.
With this in mind, we decided to use this old private house as a rental inn and named it “Amestuchi” after the scenery of Minami Izu.
The wide blue sky above Mt. Okubo, the constant flow of spring water from the mountain,
It quenches the thirst of our farms, our throats, and our hearts.
I wish that the scenery of Minami Izu will remain unchanged forever.
And while hoping that the number of friends would increase in the village,
Today, we are tilling the fields under the sun and feeling the scent of the soil.

It has been about 80 years since this house was moved here. It seems that before that it was built on the other side of the river.
This house had been vacant for many years, with the owner only occasionally opening the windows to freshen the air, but in 2020, when I heard that they had started looking for a buyer, I thought, "This is an opportunity. ” I contacted the owner.
This was an unexpectedly happy event for us, as we had always wanted to open an "old traditional Japanese house'' someday.
However, it was a really difficult task to rebuild the house on our own while working as a farmer.
Inside the house, the furniture, clothes, and household items are all intact. It's like a tunnel with no end in sight: cleaning up and carrying out trash, demolishing floors, etc.
For the work that we couldn't do ourselves, we decided to ask Shimizu Kenchiku, a local carpenter who had helped us with the renovation of our home.
Mr. Shimizu and his son are very reliable carpenters who are involved in the restoration of many old houses in this area.
I took my hat off to them for their careful work, jacking up each pillar one by one to correct the inclination, and taking the time to ensure that it could be used for a long time.
In this way, consultations began around February 2023, and full-scale construction began in January 2024, which continues to the present day.
